Just another ten days or so and we’ll be setting off for Portugal. The realisation that our time in Dalfsen is drawing to a close has gradually sunk in. The last frost and snow in winter, the pale green of the beech trees one last time this spring, and now grumbling for the final time about the cold May rains. And about house prices. They meant we couldn’t find a new home here and stay a little longer with the trees, the Vecht river and this very window.

Without going outside, you may know
the whole world.
Without looking through the window,
you may see the ways of heaven.
The farther you go,

New / rewritten in the TREE TIME section:

ALONG THE LAKE
It is still early in the morning. In the distance, the sound of a locomotive building up steam. After the oppressive heat of late summer, it has suddenly cooled down. The smell of mist, coal and musty jute sacks.
BROCADE? HUHH?
Brocade (/broʊˈkeɪd/) is a class of richly decorative shuttle-woven fabrics, often made in coloured silks and sometimes with gold and silver threads …

And tomorrow morning, of course: the week kicks off with music. Have a lovely Sunday!
